• Guidelines for Parents/Guardians:

    • Set aside time for each of your students to have access to a technology device for about 20 minutes daily between 9:00am -12:00pm in order to check-in with their teachers using Google Meet.
    • Make a daily schedule of consistent routines for your children to follow each day including:
      • School check-in time between (9:00-12:00pm)
      • School academic work time
      • Physical activity
      • Home helper/chore time
      • Play/tv time
      • And, ensure consistent meal and bedtimes
    • Ensure that each student has enough time on a technology device to complete their daily work before 2:30pm the following day.
    • Be available or have older siblings help students with new learning.
    • Utilize Google Meet links on the school's website if you need to contact school staff, have questions for your child's teacher(s) regarding course work, attendance or if you need the school's assistance during this closure period.
    • Check the school's website for periodic updates throughout the distance learning period. Use the information on the District Services tab to contact school administration and other key school employees during this time.


    K-4 Elementary School Students:

    • Students can find daily lessons for EACH day on their teacher's website by 9:00AM Monday-Friday.
    • Students can also find weekly lessons posted for their specialist classes (PE, Arabic, Media/Technology, and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) on those teacher's websites by 9:00AM Monday-Friday.
    • Students in Ms. Mel. Ms.Kelly, Ms. Taylor, Ms. Monica or Ms. Wendy's reading classes can find daily lessons on those teacher's websites by 9:00AM Monday-Friday.
    • (NEW) Students must log on to Google Meet Monday through Thursday between 9:00AM and 12:00PM and check-in with ALL of their teachers and Fridays between 9:00Am and 10:00AM  
    • Students should type their names and questions to notify their teachers that they have entered Google Meet.
    • For students who do not have internet access paper packets were available for pick up the week of March 16th, 2020. These will be updated every two weeks, if necessary and MUST be submitted upon return to school.
    • Students must complete/submit 50% of their work for each class to be marked as present for daily attendance. Each teacher homeroom teacher will take attendance based on work submission.
    • Technology Staff, EL and SPED teachers will also be available for students during office hours for student support. Please see their website for their Google Meet information.
    • (NEW) Beginning on Friday, May 8th, 2020, there will be no new assignments posted each Friday. Based on feedback from Parents, Teachers and Students, Fridays will be a catch-up day so students can finish work from earlier in the week. 

     
    5-8 Middle School Students:

    • Students can find daily lessons for EACH hour of their day on their teacher's website by 9:00AM Monday-Friday.
    • (NEW) Students must log on to Google Meet Monday through Thursday between 9:00AM and 12:00PM and check-in with ALL of their teachers and Fridays between 9:00Am and 10:00AM
    • Students should type their names and questions to notify their teachers that they have entered Google Meet.
    • For students who do not have internet access there will be paper packets for each class available. These will be updated every two weeks and MUST be submitted upon return to school.
    • Students must complete 50% of their work for each class to be marked as present for daily attendance. Each teacher you have will take attendance: math, ELA, science, social studies, and both electives.
    • Technology Staff, EL and SPED teachers will also be available for students during office hours for student support.

    TCIS Student Attendance Policy:

    • K-4 Students must complete 50% of their daily lessons posted on Google Classroom each day.
    • 5-8 Students must complete 50% of their daily work for each class they are enrolled in to be marked as present for the day
    • Students have 36 hours to complete the daily work and submit it to be marked “present.”
      • For example: Work posted for Monday, March 30th, 2020 must be submitted no later than 2:30pm on Tuesday, March 31, 2020.
      • (NEW) Attendance will be marked present as long as the student completes work during the catch-up day on Fridays
    • Attendance will be taken in Synergy by 2:45pm the following day.
    • If students are sick or missing school for the day, parents/guardians must phone the school at (612) 821-6470 and report their student as absent.
    • Office staff will make absent phone calls every Wednesday and Friday.
    • (NEW) For students with no internet and work packets:  Students will be marked present as long as they are checking in with their teachers daily in whatever method works best for them. 
    • School and State Truancy policies will be suspended during distance learning.
