Here you will find a number of commonly asked questions and answers.*Please note that the answers posted are based on the most up-to-date information from the MN Dept. of Education, MN Dept. of Health and MN Governor recommendations and may be subject to change.Q: Why are students and staff allowed to come to school and/or ride school transportation before we take their temperature?A: According to MDH guidance: "CDC does not currently recommend universal testing to inform admitting students or staff into school," and we must "Educate staff, students, and families about the signs and symptoms of COVID-19, and when they/their children should stay home and when they can return to school."Q: What happens if a student comes to school and they have a temperature or are sick?A: TCIS has established protocols for sending students to the health office, decisions around sending a student and siblings home due to suspected COVID-19 symptoms and parent & staff communication. These protocols will be shared with staff during back-to-school training. The protocols are in alignment with the MDH Planning Guide for Schools and the MN Decision Tree for People with COVID-19 Symptoms in Youth, Student and Child Care ProgramsQ: Please give us more information around cleaning and sanitizing the building?A: Please watch the following video provided by CleanerEnviro, whom we have contracted to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 within our school. CleanerEnviro DisinfectingIn addition, TCIS school custodians have been cleaning and sanitizing the building and all furniture throughout the summer months and will continue to do so multiple-times per day when school is back in session. We have increased cleaning rotations for student and staff bathroom facilities as well.Q: Will students be in school for the normal hours of 7:15-2:45pm when in-person?A: Yes - normal school hours and operations such as breakfast and lunch times will occur.Q: Will State testing proceed as normal?A: As of now, MDE has stated that schools will be required to test applicable students for the ACCESS and MCA series assessments. The logistics of that cannot be determined until closer to those assessment windows due to the unknowns around COVID-19.Q: Will teachers and students have access to many of the online resources that were used last Spring?A: Yes! Many online teacher resources and student academic resources have been purchased for use during the 2020-21 school year. Teachers will receive training and login information on those during back-to-school training. Students will receive training and login information upon their return to school or through parent communication at the start of the school year.Q: What accommodations will/can be made for staff who are concerned about being in the building this school year?A: Staff who have in-person concerns around COVID-19 should email their HR Generalist - Paul Ditter (K-4) email@example.com or Maimuna Muse (5-8) firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible to work with them on the best plan moving forward. You may also reference the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) for more information. Please keep in mind that any protections under the FFCRA are only effective through Dec. 31, 2020 unless re-approved by the federal government.
