TCIS Winter Weather Plan
During the 2020-21 school year, TCIS will utilize its distance learning model to hold school during difficult weather days. If TCIS is operating on a Hybrid Instructional Plan, all students will stay at home and participate in distance learning on an extreme weather day. If TCIS is operating on a Distance Learning Instructional Plan, all students will continue with their regular school routine.
Canceling school due to extreme winter weather is a difficult decision that is not taken lightly. We understand the stability that school offers students including meals and the hardship that finding childcare can cause for some families. However, the safety and well-being of the students and staff of TCIS is our top priority.
We will continually monitor the forecast from the National Weather Service and consult with our Bus Transportation Company, to make the best decision. We will notify families as soon as a decision is reached, but prior to 6:00am.
Communicating with families in the event of school closing, we will notify families via:
- Phone tree
- TCIS website
- TCIS Twitter account
- TV weather alerts for Channels WCCO and KARE11
